Maddie

Adopted May 2005 by Karen and Erica Diebold, passed July 2020

Maddie was one in a litter of puppies whose pregnant mom was surrendered to GRRACE. We adopted her when she was about 8 weeks old.

Maddie had a sweet disposition and loved going for a walk each day (weather permitting). She enjoyed going to the park and fetching tennis balls we threw using a ball launcher. She got along great with her younger golden retriever sister who was adopted when Maddie was about 4 years old.

She was definitely a typical golden “food hound.” She would stand by the cabinet where the biscuits were kept to indicate she wanted one (frequently throughout the day).

Maddie never met a person she didn’t like and craved attention from anyone willing to give it to her.

In her 15 years with us, she had surgery twice for a torn cruciate ligament in each leg (about 1 ½ years apart) and a cancerous tumor on her leg that was removed and followed by several rounds of radiation. She endured it all without complaint.

We still miss her, as we also miss other goldens we've had that have passed. Each one was special in their own way.
